Install the latest Nvidia and ATI drivers easily via Envy (in Ubuntu)
You like this story?
When I first installed Ubuntu i had a serious problem with my graphic drivers! Ubuntu doesn’t install the correct drivers, and it messed up my resolution settings which were set to a very low value. So i surfed the net for almost three days and finally found Envy which saved my life!
To use envy you don’t even have to know what is your video driver, just install and run envy and it will scan your system and and give you a list of drivers for your card, out of that list it shows us what are the compatible drivers and what are the recommended…so you won’t install the wrong driver and mess up everything!
Installing Envy is very easy:
- Open the terminal
- Type “sudo apt-get install envyng-qt” to install envy
- Run envy from Applications>SystemTools menu
- Select the Compatible and Recommended driver and then click on apply
Well its very easy isn’t it? But remember don’t install un-recommended drivers unless you are an expert!
