Things You Must do after Installing Windows

Normally what do people do after installing windows? Install your favorite messenger, surf the net without even installing the anti virus, start downloading torrents. After that you end up with a heavily infected (virus) and a damaged (errors) system! Then what should we do to prevent this? Well, lets find out…
Actually we need to put up our defenses before the enemy comes!…. that’s warfare, actually the same theory applies to computers! Well, if you want to keep a good healthy PC you need follow some steps as soon as you install windows! Lets see what they are… shall we?
- As soon as you install windows, connect to the internet and run windows update, and make sure you system is fully updated! (especially the security updates and service packs)
- Install your system drivers (VGA,Sound etc)
- Disable system restore if your not using it (will speed up the PC ). Right click on my computer > Properties > System Restore (Tab) > Turn off system restore on all drives.
- Turn off the indexing service to speedup the PC. Go to Start Menu > Control Panel (If in Category view change to Classic View)
- In the Control Panel go to Administrative Tools > Services > In the List Search for “Indexing Service“, Right Click it > Properties > Set the start-up type to “Disabled”
- Enable Write Cashing to increase hard disk performance (Note: Do this only if you have a backup power supply like a UPS) . Go to my computer > Right Click on a partition > Properties > Go to the “Hardware” tab > Select your Hard drive and click on properties
- Then go to the “Policies” tab > Then tick on “Enable write cashing on the disk”
- Next Restart your computer, and install your Anti Virus software.
- Next install your system utilities (You can find a set of great freeware system utilities from here
- Run the system utilities (Clean the registry,defrag registry,clean the drives) do this regularly to keep your system fresh
OK, Now your defenses are up, now you can install other software and… and do what you always do with your PC….. Enjoy!

You missed to add this, Install a good Security , else Windows will give you screens in Blue Screen of Death, Green Screen of Birth which color it likes :D

I think you must have missed it out :D And my favorite is also kaspersky bro… according to some sites, BitDefender might be better, but Kaspersky is faster and …… i think its better :D

Well its a good thing I still havent yet bought any Anti Virus ( I was under the impression that Norton AV was the best ,now I guess I will have to look into the above mentioned Kaspersky , and see what the plus & minuses are between the two ) ; But I will admit this much : I will be missing this damn Mac [ once it is no longer usable ] . I bought a HP Moonlight Artist Series @ 4GB & 500GB – I still have it in bubble wrap and enclosed in a steel aluminum case w/ WIN 7 pre-installed – it sort of serves as my Spare Tire , just in case this Mac ever does decide to die on me . However , I will say this : I am now contemplating on buying another Mac ( a used one – the Black model Mac had put out – those are the best ! found one at a very good deal, and still contemplating it :) Hey, what can I say P., some women buy shoes , I buy laptops ! :D Its one of the pitfalls of being a geek ( you can never have to many ! ); however, when I do decide to take out that HP Win , I will use this article to get me jump started ( I have forgotten how Windows looks like or operates after so long a time of being a Mac user -it will all seem Greek to me ! ) ! :D I may even require your assistance – so stand by P !!! Thanks for the useful info tho- it will come in handy :)

1. Run Windows Update.
2. Install Anti-Virus
3. Install Firefox

It will speed up things a little bit!
“While having disk write caching enabled on computers gives them extra performance by making disk writes more efficient, it can sometimes interfere with how certain applications work on these machines. If this is the case then you may need to disable disk write caching on these machines.”
“When you enable write caching on a hard disk, the hard disk receives the synchronize cache command when you shut down the computer, and the cached data is written to the hard disk before the computer shuts down.”

Ubuntu doesn’t allow you to watch encrypted DVDs, as it is not shipped the libdvdcss2 package due to legal restrictions. To add the libdvdcss2 package add these line to the terminal
