Conclusion :
In Linux, mainly we have two desktop environments, KDE and Gnome. Brasero Disc Burner is built for Gnome systems, and K3B is built for KDE systems (But if you want you can use them in both environments). Actually K3B is having a bit more features than its competitor, but Brasero Disc Burner is much more suitable for your Gnome environment. In my system (I use gnome) I have both of them.
When we talk about functionality, K3B have more features than the other, but for people who have only the basic needs, Brasero Disc Burner is the best choice.
So, you need to choose your disk burner based on your desktop environment and what you need to do with it! Now, what is your choice? Do you have another disk burner which you think will be more suitable?

Honestly, I would go and get VMware. There were times my Dual boot wouldnt’ boot. Either Vmware or Virtual PC. Both will allow you to create a virtual Operating system on your computer with out getting to complex.
I use Ubuntu as my Linux distro and it was installed using an ISO from the website. It’s 100% free. Ubuntu provides the ability to error check your ISO before you create the CD, since if the ISO is corrupted during the download.
If im right, in Ubuntu the default CD burner is Brasero!
