When it comes to free firewalls, Comodo Firewall is at the top of the ladder! Some times its even capable of beating some of the security giants in the world! Recently, Comodo have released the next major version of their world famous firewall!
As I said earlier, Comodo Firewall is the world’s best “Free” firewall that a windows user can ever have. It provides almost all the features that a commercial firewall will offer including, Default Deny Protection, automatic updates, sand-boxing and even malware protection! The most important thing is that Comodo offers you all these features for free!
Main Features :
- Default Deny Protection™
Makes sure that only known PC-safe applications execute
- Prevention-based security
Stops viruses and malware before they access your computer…so it isn’t too late to stop them.
The sandbox is a virtual operating environment for untrusted programs – ensuring viruses and other malicious software are completely isolated from the rest of your computer
- Personalized alerts
Firewall remembers which software is allowed to operate and changes its alerts accordingly.
- Automatic updates
Stay current with the latest protection.
- Precise and specific alert system
Warnings specify the level and type of possible threat from each source.
- Easy to configure
Tell the free firewall to scan upon installation and add all current applications to the safe-list.
- Detailed summary screen
Easily access an at-a-glance snapshot of current security settings
- Uncluttered, user-friendly interface
Quickly navigate through the various parts of Firewall protection without getting lost
- Thorough security “wizards”
Preset security settings for simple point-and-click setup
- Exclusive access to Comodo’s “safe-list”
List of over two million known PC-friendly files and apps. Privdes free firewall protection with the knowledge to let safe files and apps run.
- ‘Training Mode’ lets Firewall automatically create ‘allow’ rules
Firewall software learns your trusted programs to minimize alerts
I think some of these features are not available in some commercial Firewall systems. I have been using Comodo for about an year, and it did a pretty good job making my PC invisible to the outside world!

Its free, more secure, very light on system resources and very user friendly! Am I right? What is your opinion about this great software?

Windows Firewall is serving me just fine, I believe. Comodo interferes with some of my programs and I just can’t figure it out, so I want to disable the firewall, but still keep some applications from accessing the internet. Is this possible?

Use the restore disks that came with the computer. If there are none, then back up all your data, and reinstall windows.
Also, for programs that you are having trouble with that ran fine in Windows Vista but not in Windows 7 you could try the compatibility mode for the app to see if that fixes the issue you’re having.
The bios and changing the boot drive priority or some machines allow you to push a button to go into a boot menu. Just look at the first screen that appears when you turn your computer on and it should say what to push to access the bios or boot menu.
