Lets Add a User Name For your Facebook Profile and Fan Page

Earlier, if we want to view some one’s profile in Facebook, we need to search for his profile, because we can’t memories the long URL that they had for profiles! But, Facebook started to give Facebook user-names, so that people can go to their profiles by entering www.facebook.com/user-name!
Facebook rolled out this new feature last year… But still people seems to be un-aware of this cool feature. Still I can see many long, un-user friendly, ugly URLS in Facebook! So, I thought of writing about it again with some added content! Last time I didn’t talked about adding user-names for your fan page! But today, you’ll learn it!
How to add user-names to our Profile?
- Go to : http://www.facebook.com/username/
- Now, in the box provided enter the user-name you want and click on “Check availability” to check whether the user name is taken by another person!

- If your User-Name is available click on “Confirm” to add it
How to add user-names to our Fan Page?
- To set a user name for your fan page, go to the same address (http://www.facebook.com/username/) and click on “Set a user-name for your Pages”
- Next, select your fan page, give a user name and click on “Check availability”

Note :
You can’t change the username of Earth Blog once you set it.
You can’t transfer the ownership of a username to another party.
You can’t violate anyone elses trademark rights.
If you are acquiring a username to sell it in the future (squatting), you will lose it.

Got some very good tips here. Unfortuneateley , on the internet , you have to protect yourself from hackers. Social networks are one place that they can find the information to hack you. or steal your ID.
Hehe… that won’t stop millions of users from using social networks :P

Hey bro do you know why it is saying that you are not eligible to create a username when I tried for my page. By the way my Facebook Page is new. Hope so you too will join there ;)

Since the redesign of the Facebook front page with the news feed, Pages pack a much bigger punch. It makes pages/brands more a part of the conversation and less of a static gathering point. This fact alone ends the discussion for me.
You need at least 100 members in your fan page to qualify for a custom URL

Facebook doesn’t allow people to track who views their profiles. Facebook applications, on the other hand, are unable to track anybody unless they have the consent of the viewer.
