Gmail is one of the best e-mail services on the world which is powered by Google. Many users use Gmail everyday but the problem is its a service which is provided online! To check your mail, you need to open your web browser and login to your Gmail account. But, what if we can download our emails to our desktop so that we can read them later when we are offline? Worth a try isn’t it?
Most of you might be familiar with the email clients like Mozilla Thunderbird which works within your desktop and allow you to check your mail. No web browsers and no need to stay online.. Only want the connection to download your mail! But normally we do not use these email clients to check our online mail accounts like Gmail. But what if we can? If we can do this….
- We will be able to read our email leisurely offline
- We will be able to have a greater control of our inbox. Normally if we use a service like Gmail, we only have to use the features that they have to offer. But an email client like Mozilla Thunderbird have a lot of ad-dons which can give you a wide variety of features which the email client lacks!
What do you think? Don’t you want to download your Gmail account right now? Well… lets see how you can download your entire Gmail account to your desktop
- First, you can get Mozilla Thunderbird from here
- After you install it, open Thunderbird and go to Tools > Account Settings
- In the Account settings window, select “Account Actions” and go to “Add Mail Account” as show in the screenshot below :
- After that, enter your Name, Gmail Email Address, and the Password you used to login to gmail in the mail Account Setup window.
- When your done, click “Continue”
- Now, Thunderbird will automatically contact google severs and test the connection.
- After its done, click on “Create Account”.
Now you can access your mail account from Thunderbird! Because they normally use the IMAP protocol, when you have Internet access, Thunderbird will automatically get all the new messages you have in the real time just like your Gmail inbox! So… what do you think? Doesn’t this solve lots of problems you had? Please feel free to share your ideas with us!
